Port Closures and Delays

Port Closures and Delays

As I am sure you are aware much of the UK is now receiving weather warnings due to Storm Gareth.  This storm has been impacting UK ports due to the strong winds.  We wanted to let you know about the current situation regarding UK ports and why you may be experiencing delays receiving your goods.

Felixstowe Port has been experiencing on and off closures since Thursday 7th March and currently remains closed.  It is due to reopen later today but it is anticipated that this may only be temporary as the weather forecast indicates further strong winds and disruptions.

Southampton Port currently remains open but is experiencing delays due to the weather.  It is anticipated that the port may face closures at some stage with the weather forecast indicating further strong winds over the coming days.

These closures and delays are being seen at all UK ports.  There are delays with unloading vessels, with the possibility of some vessels having to cut and run, as well as delays in getting containers off quay due to limited VBS slots.

We will continue to monitor the delays and will be in touch with customers who this may impact directly.  If you have any questions please feel free to call a member of our team.
