New Container Weight Regulations

New Container Weight Regulations

New container weight regulations, SOLAS (Safety of Life at Sea) come into force on the 1st July 2016.

ISCA Forwarding have applied to be a Registered Verified Weigher for the containers that we load on behalf of our customers, but we are still waiting to hear whether our application has been accepted, and whether or not a site visit is required. We have however, hears from DP world who own and manage the London Gateway and Southampton Docks. Loading a container ship

They have invested in load cells on the straddle carriers. These will allow them to weigh every container before it is loaded onto the ship. There is an additional cost for this service which has been implemented at £17.50 per container.

Certain key information will be needed, but it is straightforward and offers a fairly straightforward solution to customers using these Ports. Please feel free to download and read this detailing exact requirements. DP World Info Sheet
