EORI Number Revamp is now live!

Anyone who is used to Importing or Exporting goods will be familiar with EORI numbers we have been using them since 2009! In the last month or so, a few changes have been bought in to improve the process.  Freight Forwarders are no longer allowed to apply for an EORI Number on your behalf. It has to be done by the individual or Business responsible for Importing or Exporting the Goods.You can apply for your EORI code easily online  here

Do I need an EORI Number?

Probably yes! You will need an EORI number if you are moving goods to or from, or within any European member state.  An EORI number is unique throughout the European Community, assigned by a customs authority in a member state to economic operators (businesses) or persons. By registering for customs purposes in one member state, an Economic Operator (EO) is able to obtain an EORI number which is valid throughout the community. The EO will then use this number in all communications with any EC Customs authorities where a customs identifier is required; for example: Customs Declarations.

Can you (my Freight Forwarder) get my EORI code for me?

No. EORI codes can only be requested by the applicant and not by a representative.
